  1. Tim Butz says:

His comment about “nit picking” by code enforcement sounds like the ramblings of someone who has never had to rent substandard housing. Codes are in place for a reason (health and safety) and as an activist in a neighborhood association I can tell you that slumlords get more than ample opportunity (too much in my opinion) to cure defects. Substandard housing brings down the value of a neighborhood and serves as an incubator for a host of other problems. Nabity would be the first to scream if his home value was jeapordized by neglected property. With this as part of his program, I guess he has decided that he will ignore the needs of older neighborhoods. Were he to show up at our neighborhood association and attempt to promote this idea he would be laughed out of the meeting. We need more code enforcement, not less.

  2. Tim– someone forces you to rent a particular piece of property? Is there absolutely no competition in the property rental business?

If so, why do I keep seeing signs at various apartment complexes, imploring us to “Live Here”?
